It's been three and one-half years since my last post to LiveJournal. Retirement should have given me more time, not less time. I've been busy with life; sold my house, moved into a motor home; traveled the US west; spent a lot of time reading & almost no time writing. I'd really like to change that.

So, here I am on Dreamwidth, moving from LiveJournal without even knowing about the change in TOS brouhaha. Some coincidences are just not coincidental. Maybe Synchronistic?

I'll be dusting off my keyboard, can't really compose much on the little screen.

I'm looking for a free .wma to .mp3 converter. Any suggestions? I have a Creative Zen .mp3 player, and I'd like to listen to audio books in .mp3 format, but most come as .wma.

OMG! The QAF Grocery Store Challenge was seven years ago? *Seven* years! Where has time gone? Jenn, I know you keep stats on everything under the sun. If you read this? When was it that you migrated from Diaryland to Live Journal? It was just before then that I found fanfiction...

My library feed just popped up a link to the book The Torchwood Archives by Gary Russell

Amazon's description is:

Separate from the Government. Outside the police. Beyond the United Nations. Founded by Queen Victoria in 1879, the Torchwood Institute has long battled against alien threats to the British Empire. Beautifully designed throughout with full-color photos and original illustrations, his insider's look into the secret world of Torchwood features in-depth background on personnel, case files on alien enemies of the Crown, descriptions of extra-terrestrial technology collected over the years, and details on some of the biggest mysteries surrounding the Rift in space and time running through Cardiff.

When you see this, post in your own journal with your favourite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya speech.

Let's help Rep. Wexler in his quest for Impeachment hearings... Sign your name to the petition and spread the word.

Quoted from Crooks and Liar's

"I’ve been in communication with Rep. Wexler and they are genuinely stunned by both the volume and the quality of the response they’ve received from the blogosphere. I think we’re starting to pierce through the Beltway bubble and really showing the power of the netroots to come together and support those who are supporting our values.

If you haven’t done so already, please forward WexlerWantsHearings.com to your email list. Let’s show Rep. Wexler that he can get 250,000 signatures as easily as we got him 50,000."

Looking for a story wherein Harry ends up living in a very private inclusive wizarding community. Death Eater families and other show him another way of wizarding life that he slowly comes to embrace. I think Regulus Black is alive, and Harry becomes friends with his wife and kids??? There is a pole/stanchion in the town square that is a port key to another town...

My 100 light strand of pretty Christmas lights isn't working right! One half of the strand is fine - the other half won't light up. I've checked the fuses already, and I don't have a "blinker" light on the strand. Help, anyone?

According to the box:

"In order for this set to function properly, all of the bulbs must be seated firmly in their sockets"

It's not that, because half works fine.

"Each bulb contains a shunting device that keeps the set lit even if one or more bulbs burn out"

It not that, either, as I don't think 25 bulbs burned out at the same time.

Hmmm

If I wanted to sell personal property like a set of dishes or an expensive internet button/mouse/trackball what on-line options do I have?

I've used freecycle for some items, but these are "bigger ticket" pieces, where the sale value is at or over $100. I don't want to just give them away.

Of course Ebay, which takes a cut and seems very confusing to me, and Craigslist, where your classified ad stays for only 7 days. What else is there?

My plane is delayed, again. It has a flat tire. That was the first delay. Now they say that the jack isn't working!! Ha. I have my laptop though, and after beating on it for 5 minutes I got hooked up on the wireless at the airport. I'm regretting packing the power cord in my checked baggage though.

I've just checked in on y'all, and downloaded a plethora of stories for reading offline. Have a great day! If any of you will be available for dinner tonight in Toledo OH, drop a comment and I'll check back at Toledo airport for hookup instructions. You can email to my lj address with a phone number if you feel comfortable doing that.

[livejournal.com profile] meimur I know that you have that family thing. Maybe we'll catch up next year!
